Shayma Mustafa

Shayma Mustafa  released her first book last week. It’s called Excuse Me Ma’am, Excuse Me Sir – I’m Amina, An All American Girl. The book was released as a part of the monthly bilingual Storytime at the Arab American National Museum.

Mustafa says she has been asked all her life where she’s “really” from. When her daughter also had that experience, she found herself having the same discussion with her child her own father had had with her 30 years before. She says her daughter told her she didn’t feel like an American.
