The Trump Administration’s crackdown on undocumented immigrants has hit close to home recently.
Jorge Garcia — a 39-year-old Lincoln Park father of two — was deported to Mexico last week. That’s despite having lived in the U.S. for 30 years without committing a crime.
Garcia’s wife Cindy was in the room for Gov. Rick Snyder’s State of the State address this week. She was there as a guest of state Rep. Cara Clemente (D-Lincoln Park).
WDET’s Jake Neher caught up with Cindy Garcia after the speech and asked her how her family is coping.
“It’s been hard. It’s been a living nightmare,” says Garcia. “But I’m living day by day by the grace of God.”
