Presidential Election Spawns Donation Scams

The presidential primary season is officially underway following the caucuses in Iowa.

Most of the major candidates have been campaigning, and asking for political donations, for around a year now.

But some of those requests for campaign funding…are not coming from campaigns.

Instead it’s a prime chance for internet scammers to fraudulently seek money.

WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter talked about how to discern what might and might not be a political scam with a man in the center of the current nexus of presidential politics, the Better Business Bureau Serving Greater Iowa’s Ryan Smith.
