Michigan Official Says Cuba has Much to Offer State, US

President Obama’s announcement that the U.S. is reopening its embassy in Cuba has special significance for a former Detroit official.

Felix Sharpe Caballero now works with the state of Michigan, as its Director of Behavioral Health Integrations.

But he was born in Cuba, travels there frequently and says he has dual U.S. and Cuban citizenship.

Sharpe Caballero tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter that fully normalizing relations with Cuba would benefit Michigan and, Caballero says, right a long-standing wrong.
