One of the key themes of this year’s Mackinac Policy Conference is ensuring everyone in Detroit benefits from the city’s development. Organizers of the annual gathering on Mackinac Island say they’re focused on creating one Detroit, rather than two cities—one rich, the other poor. WDET’s Jerome Vaughn is covering the conference. He tells Pat Batcheller there’s a lot of emphasis on the city this year. Jerome also reports one of the most popular events of past policy conferences—the “Big Four” meeting with Detroit’s mayor and county executives—isn’t happening this year, because one of the key players decided not to attend.
