President Joe Biden’s pitch to voters is simple: the economy is booming, jobs are plentiful, portfolios are swelling, let’s keep it all going for another four years.

But what about inflation? Biden says it’s drastically reduced from the height of the pandemic, but it is crushing people at the grocery store and everywhere else.

In a recent article titled “What the Upper-Middle-Class Left Doesn’t Get About Inflation,” by Atlantic staff writer Michael Powell, he points out this schism in the Democratic message.

Michael Powell is a staff writer at The Atlantic. He believes President Biden’s messaging about the economy is out of touch.
