Water is the most basic element of life.
And, one could argue, it’s the most basic thing government provides.
Water is especially central to living here in Michigan, where we’re surrounded by one of the largest sources of fresh water in the world. And yet, we struggle here to ensure Michiganders have access to clean and affordable drinking water. Think of the Flint Water Crisis, other major contamination problems such as industrial chemicals in ground water and major oil spills, and water shutoffs right here in Detroit.
What is the role of government in making sure water is safe and affordable? That’s what this special conversation digs into. Host Jake Neher speaks with activists, experts and public officials, and live in-studio audience members made up of stakeholders.
