Lawmakers at the state Capitol are wrangling once again with the issue of auto insurance rates across the state.

Michigan has some of the highest auto insurance rates in the country. And those rates are especially high in Detroit.

But why? What is driving up the cost of insuring a car here more than other places in the country?

Crain’s Detroit Business reporter Chad Livengood and Bridge Magazine reporter Mike Wilkinson have been working to shed light on that question.

They join Detroit Today with Stephen Henderson to help explain the factors at play.
