Ontario Announces Plans for Legal Pot Purchases
LCBO-style stores and on-line sales will be controlled by government
The Government of Ontario is announcing its framework for legalization of marijuana. That includes 150 stand-alone retail stores and on-line purchases. The announcement, from the Attorney General of Ontario and other officials, says The Liquor Control Board of Ontario, or LCBO, will manage both retail and on-line sales. Canada’s federal government approved recreational pot use earlier this year. The new law will allow anyone over the age of 19 to purchase recreational pot. Use will be restricted to private residences only. The new law goes into effect July 1, 2018.
