Utilities are looking for students interested in energy careers.

Michigan’s two largest utilities are looking for students who are interested in energy careers. DTE Energy and Consumers Energy are working together to promote “Careers in Energy Week”, October 17 through 21. The Michigan Workforce Development Agency estimates 9.4 percent job growth in the industry through 2024. At the same time, the department says 25 to 50 percent of all energy workers in the state will be eligible to retire within five years. Diane Antishin is DTE’s Vice President of Human Resource Operations. She tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller many energy employees earn six-figure salaries, including overhead line workers.
