Prison System Reform: Release 10,000 Prisoners?

Summit brings together dozens of prison reform stakeholders

A group advocating for prison reform in Michigan wants to see 10,000 prisoners released from state facilities. Citizens Alliance on Prisons and Public Spending says the state spends 2 Billion dollars annually to keep 44-thousand people locked up. CAPPS held a meeting this week with other prison reform advocates.  Former legislator Joe Haveman is the Director of Government  Relations  at Hope Network. He attended the event and tells WDET’s Amy Miller that releasing 10-thousand prisoners is not so far-fetched.
