Future Bridge Between Detroit and Windsor Could Have Pedestrian, Bike Lanes
Officials from the US and Canada are advocating for the new bridge to allow pedestrian, bike, and car traffic.
The New International Trade Crossing connecting Detroit and Windsor could have more than car and truck traffic when it opens in 2020.
Advocates and politicians in both Canada and the U.S. are supporting the idea of pedestrian and bike traffic on the new bridge.
Among those supporting the crossing being multimodal is Windsor-West Member of Parliament Brian Masse. He tells WDET’s J. Carlisle Larsen that having a mixed use bridge would benefit residents on both sides of the river.
