Remembering Bob Berg, Longtime Detroit Political Spokesperson [Archives]

Detroit lost a powerful and beloved voice in the world of politics and public relations this week.

Bob Berg was perhaps best known as the longtime press secretary for Detroit Mayor Coleman A. Young. He was also former spokesperson for Republican Governor William Milliken’s in the late 1970s.

Berg and Detroit Today host Stephen Henderson became friends in the mid-90s. Berg has joined the program multiple times.

In August of 2016, Berg spoke with Henderson at length about his career and Mayor Young’s tenure in Detroit. Here’s a piece of that conversation.
