VP Pence Tells Michigan Workers Tax Plan will Deliver Jobs
VP Pence says Trump tax plan will simplify code, saving the middle class money, and take the brakes off of job creators.
Vice President Mike Pence told workers at a plant in Auburn Hills that the Trump Administration’s tax plan will bring jobs back to Michigan and put more money in the pockets of the middle-class.
Pence was at an American Axle facility to tout a tax plan he says will be a “miracle for the middle class.”
President Trump won Michigan by vowing to bring manufacturing jobs back to the state.
The Vice President says the Administration’s tax proposal will do that by cutting business taxes he says hinder job creation.
Pence told a crowd of roughly 300 people in Auburn Hills that the tax plan will save the middle class money by simplifying the tax code and doubling the standard deduction.
“Despite what you hear from the liberal left and some voices in the national media, tax cuts mean more jobs. Tax cuts mean higher wages. Tax cuts mean more money in your pocket on payday,” Pence says.
He did not say how the cuts would be paid for.
Democrats counter by saying the plan benefits the wealthy and big corporations at the expense of the middle class.
Democratic officials caution the plan could fall short of gaining enough votes to pass in Congress, just as attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act did.
But Pence vows that the effort to replace Obamacare is not over.
“The Senate ran out of time this week on the subject of health care. (But) I’m gonna make you a promise. Before this session of Congress ends in 2018 we will repeal and replace Obamacare. We’re gonna get it done,” Pence says.
He told the crowd in Auburn Hills that tax reform has typically been a bipartisan issue, so they should particularly press U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) to support the plan.
Stabenow, a Democrat, is up for reelection next year and is a target of the GOP.
