Trump Wants Michigan GOP Chair to Lead National Party

Trump’s pick for RNC chair is the niece of Mitt Romney, who called President-elect a “con man unfit to serve.”

President-elect Donald Trump is endorsing the head of Michigan’s Republican Party to become the chair of the GOP’s national committee.

Ironically, Ronna Romney McDaniel is the niece of a frequent critic of the President-elect.

McDaniel’s uncle is the 2012 GOP standard-bearer Mitt Romney, who condemned Trump as a con man unfit to serve as president during the recent campaign.

Yet McDaniel supported Trump to the point that the President-elect said in a statement that her efforts were critical to his winning Michigan.., which had not voted for a Republican for president since George H. W. Bush in 1988.

She also led state Republicans efforts to stop a recount of the presidential race in Michigan.

Besides Trump, McDaniel is also backed by outgoing GOP national chair Reince Priebus, who is leaving to become White House Chief of Staff.
