Kelly McEvers, host of All Things Considered on NPR, has a new podcast called “Embedded,” where she takes a deeper look at big stories that move in and out of the news cycle. She spends time with biker gangs in Texas, drug addicts with HIV in rural Indiana, and cops and the homeless on Skid Row.
Before McEvers was investigating stories in the United States, she was a foreign correspondent for many years. Her travels and reporting took her all over the world — including several war zones in the Middle East.
McEvers recently spoke with Detroit Today producer Laura Weber-Davis about how she wound up reporting from war-torn regions of the world. To hear their conversation click on the audio player above.
