Mackinac Redux: Pressure on Lansing to Fix Roads
Lawmakers will stick around after budget vote to focus on transportation.
The Michigan Legislature may send next year’s budget to Governor Rick Snyder this week. That’s usually the last major action lawmakers take before going on summer recess. But not this year. Politicians are planning to stay in Lansing until they figure out how to come up with more than $1 billion a year in new funding to fix Michigan’s roads. That was a major topic of discussion at last week’s Mackinac Policy Conference. WDET’s Pat Batcheller asked Michigan Public Radio’s Rick Pluta if politicians are any closer to a solution now that the conference is over.
