MichMash: Justices Vow #AgressiveNonpartisanship on State Supreme Court
But how long will those sentiments last as #HyperPartisan issues come before the court this term?

A new session is underway for the Michigan Supreme Court.
Justices have selected a Democrat to serve as chief justice, despite Republicans holding a majority on the court.
Those partisan designations may make you scratch your head and say, “Wait a minute! I voted for these people in the nonpartisan section of my ballot!”
Well, that is true.
But before their names appear in that nonpartisan portion of the ballot, they are nominated by the major parties at state nominating conventions.
That being said, justices on this court say they’re hoping to leave their party affiliations on the floors of those convention centers.
New Chief Justice Bridget Mary McCormack and Detroit Today host Stephen Henderson recently collaborated on WDET’s live airwaves to create a new hashtag describing this new direction for the court — #AggressiveNonpartisanship.
