The recent blue wave means more Democratic control here in Michigan, in state houses across the country, and in Washington, D.C.. Democrats have taken control of the U.S. House — and with it sweeping oversight powers over the executive branch.
That’s especially significant considering the legal issues swirling around President Trump and his administration.
The House also has the power to probe into corporate America, which has seen its fair share of scandal recently as well.
Jeff Hauser is the executive director of the Revolving Door Project at the Center for Economic and Policy Research. He discusses how Democrats should wield their new oversight power. He says they have an opportunity to reclaim the mantle of populism heading into the 2020 presidential election.
