New State House Democratic Leader Christine Greig Talks Divided State Government
The Democrat from Farmington Hills will lead a caucus in 2019 that has gained ground on the GOP majority.
It was the first joyous day for Democrats in Lansing in what seems like forever. On January 1, Democrats were sworn in as governor, secretary of state, and attorney general. That’s after eight years of complete Republican control of state government.
The blue wave in the midterm elections also swept more Democrats into the state House and Senate, although they are still be the minority in each chamber.

State Rep. Christine Greig (D-Farmington Hills) is the new state House Democratic Leader, representing the 37th District which covers Farmington and Farmington Hills.
She talks about roads, auto insurance, education, and more — and she anticipates Democrats and Republicans will be able to work together with divided state government for the first time in eight years.
