Chanucon and English-Arabic Storytime

This Weekend’s Coolest Kid Hangs from Metro Parent Magazine Editor Julia Elliott

AANM English-Arabic Storytime

Several events in Metro Detroit this weekend give children a chance to explore their own culture – or someone else’s. Metro Parent Magazine Editor Julia Elliott says the Arab American National Museum hosts its monthly English-Arabic Story Time Saturday morning.

The stories are read not just in English but in Arabic. So whether your child is an Arabic speaker or you would like them to be aware of this culture and this community within the greater Metro Detroit area this would be a great opportunity.

Elliott says games…music and food tastings will be on offer at Chanu-con! – a Hannukah festival — Sunday at Congregation Beth Shalom. Both events are free to the public.

More information about these events and Metro Parent’s complete listing of events for every day of the year is on their website: metroparent.com.

Another thing we have going on this weekend is the Chanucon. It’s a Hanukkah festival at Beth Shalom in Oak Park and it’s on Sunday, November 18th. You get to sample some holiday treats like Latkes and other activities…I’m sure you’re gonna probably spin the dreidel. So that’s another good one this Sunday.

Both events are free. More information about them – and Metro Parent’s complete calendar of events is on their website: metroparent.com.
