White House: Embedding Feds Big Boon to Hard Hit Cities

White House says embedding feds helping cities hit hard by Great Recession, provides model for rest of nation.

 

When Detroit was grappling with the nations’ largest ever municipal bankruptcy the Obama Administration said it would not provide the city with a financial bailout.

Instead the Administration dispatched several of its members to embed themselves with Detroit officials and help guide the city in applying for grants and other aid.

It’s been a model used in several cities that were hit hard during the Great Recession.

WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter talked about how such efforts have been faring with the Director of the President’s Domestic Policy Council, Detroit native Cecilia Munoz.
