Perfect weather expected for mushrooms festival at Proud Lake Recreation Area

Northern Michigan has seen a proliferation of mushrooms this summer. Plenty of rain has helped bring out fungus of all kinds. Now that Southeast Michigan is getting cooler weather and more rain, amateur mushroom hunters should also be collecting plenty. Michigan State University Mycologist Chris Wright tells WDET’s Amy Miller that growing mushrooms has become a popular hobby, especially since Michigan has thousands of species. And this weekend is the mushroom hunters festival at Proud Lake Recreation Area
