Executive Dave Coulter has ordered essential businesses to screen employees daily for symptoms related to coronavirus before they can report to work.
Oakland County businesses will have to take new measures to keep workers and customers safe beginning at noon today.
Executive Dave Coulter has ordered essential businesses to screen employees daily for symptoms related to coronavirus before they can report to work. The novel, or new, coronavirus strain, COVID-19, is identified by flu-like symptoms, including coughing, chest pain, a fever and difficulty breathing. If possible, staffers should have their temperatures taken before entering the workplace.
“We’re still not anywhere near where we need to be in terms of testing our population.” – Dave Coulter, Oakland County Executive
Coulter says testing for the disease has started to pick up in Oakland County, but more work needs to be done.
“Frankly, there’s not even enough swabs and other things to do the testing,” Coulter says. “The amount of tests that we’re able to do are increasing daily. But we’re still not anywhere near where we need to be in terms of testing our population.”
As of publish time, 10 people have died from the disease in Oakland County, according to the state, and 100 people who have tested positive for coronavirus are hospitalized there.
