Michigan Science Center’s New CEO On Plans to Make Center More Accessible, Relevant
Christian Greer discusses his new role, vision and putting science in the hands of curious people across the state.
Innovation has been a centerpiece in conversations surrounding Detroit’s revitalization. There’s an active energy to approach ordinary operations with fresh perspectives, and make resources more available, accessible and relevant across the city.
When considering his next career move, it was this energy and forward-thinking desire that captured the attention of Christian Greer, the newly appointed president and CEO of the Michigan Science Center (MiSci).

A STEM professional with nearly 30 years of experience across museums and science centers, Greer envisions MiSci as being a hub for experimentation and discovery; where science is in the hands of “curious people” ready to “make a difference, explore and be discoverers.”
“We want people to be able to apply a principle of science to their everyday life,” Greer tells CultureShift’s Ryan Patrick Hooper. “Science is all about critical thinking, creative problem solving and asking questions. We create a safe space for all ages to explore, innovate and experiment.”
He adds, “If there’s something that was discovered and was on the news, we would like to have something at the Science Center where you can learn more about it.”
