The complaint alleges President Trump may have solicited an illegal campaign contribution during a July call with the newly-elected Ukrainian leader.

The whistleblower complaint at the heart of a developing story involving President Trump and possible abuses of power has been declassified and released by the House Intelligence Committee. 

The complaint was withheld from Congressional committees for weeks. According to Acting Director of the Department of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire, this was due to complications involving executive privilege, although the whistleblower was deemed credible by relevant authorities. 

The president has claimed the whistleblower and subsequent investigation is politically motivated.
