On Thursday, WDET’s Detroit Today will join with our Detroit Journalism Cooperative partners — Chalkbeat Detroit and Bridge Magazine — to take a deeper look at the problem of mobility, the high number of children in Detroit schools who move frequently during the school year.

This has been an issue in Detroit for a long time, and Chalkbeat and Bridge recently documented the extent of the problems in a series called “Moving Costs.”

The event to discuss Detroit’s mobility issues is at the Detroit Public Library at 6 p.m.

It will also be a live taping of Detroit Today, and of Detroit Public Television’s American Black Journal.

Erin Einhorn, bureau chief of ChalkBeat Detroit, joins Detroit Today with Stephen Henderson to preview the event and talk about the issue.
