One of the recurring themes we hear around elections is about getting people to the polls. This often means, how are political activists, parties, and organizations physically getting their voters to precincts.

This year, there are also several non-political groups offering free or discounted rides to the polls in Metro Detroit on Election Day.

Among them are ride-hailing services Lyft and Uber. Local companies are also getting in on this trend, including Detroit Bus Company and even a local funeral home.

Elliot Darvick, Lyft general manager for Michigan and Ohio, joins Detroit Today with Stephen Henderson to talk about his company’s efforts.

Henderson also speaks with Andy DiDororsi, founder of the Detroit Bus Company.
