This year’s race for governor is beginning to heat up. A number of candidates have already shown they’re willing to turn negative against their opponents. On the Democratic side, candidates have even filed complaints questioning their opponents’ eligibility to run for office in the first place.

Three of the top Democrats running for governor this year join Detroit Today with Stephen Henderson to talk about their campaigns, their vision for leading the state, and some of the pressing issues affecting Michiganders.

Gretchen Whitmer answers questions about her experiences as state Senate Democratic leader and as interim Ingham County prosecutor and how they have or have not prepared her for the office of governor.

Shri Thanedar answers questions about a number of scandals that have plagued his campaign. Those include reports that he considered running for office as a Republican and reports that his company abandoned hundreds of dogs and monkeys in a testing facility that went bankrupt.
