Plymouth Ice Festival Celebrates Winter
Weekend festival celebrates 36 years.
Downtown Plymouth will be carving fun out of this weekend’s wintry weather.
The 36 year old Ice Festival celebrates “all things winter.”
James Gietzen is the festival organizer. He says more than 300 blocks of ice will be used to make ice carvings.
“We also have different interactive ice carvings people can take pictures with,” Gietzen said. “I think we’re gonna have a polar bear the kids can sit on and take a picture with as well.”
Festival-goers can also enjoy cross country skiing, a tubing run and an ice bar. There will also be a warming tent.
The festival runs Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Gietzen said to find the festival, head downtown and park when you see the ice sculptures — or use the GPS coordinates of the Penn Theatre at 760 Penniman Avenue in Plymouth.
