Using THC from Pot to Treat PTSD

Wayne State researchers look at low dose THC in combination with exposure therapy for treating PTSD

Wayne State University researchers are getting nearly four million dollars to help find ways to reduce the effects of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder or P-T-S-D.

The National Institutes of Health grant, combines exposure therapy with small doses of T-H-C, the active ingredient in marijuana.

Exposure therapy or Fear Extinction Learning involves repeating sights or sounds that trigger stress reactors in a patient’s brain.

Christine Rabinak is an Assistant Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Wayne State.
