Figure Skating in Detroit

Figure Skating in Harlem has offered girls training on and off the ice for more than 20 years. It’s now offering its program to girls in Detroit.

Figure Skating in Detroit is launching with a set of workshops for girls 6 to 15 years old.

Detroit Director Geneva Williams says the workshops will give girls and their families a taste of everything the program offers besides figure skating.

“They will be exposed to academic training and coaching, tutors, STEM, financial literacy, life skills opportunities to learn how to be powerful public speakers and all of those kinds of things we know help develop young girls in particular,” Williams said.

The Figure Skating in Detroit workshop takes place at the Jack Adams Arena in Detroit at 1 o’clock Sunday…and another takes place on Saturday…April 29.
