Students Can Help Each Other Be Better Drivers [VIDEO]
State seeks 50 Michigan schools to create peer-to-peer safety program.
Michigan State Police say traffic crashes are the leading cause of teenage deaths. In 2015, there were almost 42,000 collisions statewide involving 15-19-year-old drivers, and 84 people died in those crashes. The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning is expanding its “Strive For a Safer Drive” program, which launched in 2011. OHSP spokesperson Anne Readett tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller that the goal is to encourage students to come up with a driving safety plan that they can share with each other.
