Former Gov. Granholm: “I Have Great Hope Michigan Will Reject Politics of Divison”
Granholm talks about role as Clinton transition team co-chair and whether she wants role in next administration.
Former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm has emerged as one of the top campaign surrogates for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Granholm has been a Clinton supporter since her first presidential run in 2008.
Now, she’s been named a co-chair of the Clinton transition team.
Granholm tells Michigan Public Radio Network state Capitol bureau chief Rick Pluta about her responsibilities and the presidential campaign.
“You have to be able to… take the candidate’s promises on the campaign trail and turn them into reality, or at least plan for that process,” says Granholm.
The former governor also talks about how she believes Clinton’s message on foreign trade has been effective, despite policies such as NAFTA being tied so closely with the administration of her husband, President Bill Clinton. Pluta also asks her whether she wishes to have a role in the next administration if Clinton wins in November.
