Bottled Water Donations Pour in to Flint
Major corporations are joining with Hollywood celebs to send millions of bottles of water to kids in Flint.
Millions of bottles of water are being donated to residents in Flint, where the water supply has been contaminated by lead and other elements.
Those donating the bottled water range from big box manufacturers to Hollywood celebrities.
Flint’s water system was ravaged by lead contamination after the city used its river as a water source in an effort to save money.
Children are especially vulnerable to lead poisoning.
President Obama declared a state of emergency in Flint.
Now the companies Walmart, Coca-Cola, Nestle’ and PepsiCo say they will donate about 6.5 million bottles of water to Flint. That’s enough, they say, to help school children there for most of the rest of the year.
A company operated by musician Sean Combs and actor Mark Wahlberg is also pledging to send a million bottles of water to the city with help from musician and Michigan native Eminem.
