Feds, Industry to Cooperate on Auto Safety

Transportation Secretary Foxx announced the details at the auto show in Detroit.

The federal government and 17 automakers have agreed to work together on safety issues. U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx announced details at the North American International Auto Show on January 15. One of the goals of the deal is to help car companies put new safety technology on the roads years sooner than they can now. Paul Eisenstein, publisher of thedetroitbureau.com tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller the automakers are trying to build a good relationship with Mark Rosekind, head of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
