Michigan Health Director Says Office Closures Will Improve Service

Legislative committee approves closure or consolidation of 15 state health offices.

A budget bill in the Michigan Legislature would close or consolidate 15 health and human service offices in Michigan. That includes some branches in Detroit and other parts of Wayne County. A conference committee approved the closures and sent them to the State House and Senate. Nick Lyon is the director of the Michigan Department of Community Health. He tells WDET’s Pat Batcheller the closures will make the department more efficient and more responsive to people’s health care needs.
