Search for the Next State Superintendent: Scott Menzel

Three candidates will be interviewed for the post on Wednesday.

The State Board of Education is interviewing the final three candidates on Wednesday to become the next state school Superintendent. Current Superintendent Mike Flanagan will retire from the post at the end of June. Among the candidates being considered for the position is Scott Menzel. He serves currently as the Superintendent of the Washtenaw Intermediate School District. He has also been a superintendent for 13 years at various schools districts, and helped oversee the merger of the Ypslianti-Willow Run School Districts. He tells WDET’s J. Carlisle Larsen why he wants the job.
