Fiat Floats Possible Chrysler Merger

The head of Fiat says Chrysler may need to merge with another automaker to survive.

   Could Detroit’s Big Three automakers become the Huge Two? Or one?

 

   It’s a possibility, according to the head of Fiat Chrysler, Sergio Marchionne.

 

   Late last week Marchionne said combining Fiat Chrysler – also known as FCA – with Ford or General Motors would be technically feasible and might be a necessity for the automakers to achieve the kind of capital investment required to compete in the global marketplace.
