Tesla Offers Wireless Remote Control Battery Charging

Tesla says drivers won’t have to worry about running out of battery power. Company can recharge cars using wireless tech

Officials with the Tesla car company say they will announce this week that they are significantly increasing the range of some battery-powered vehicles.

Tesla officials say they will end any concerns drivers of its Model S series have about running out of a battery charge.

That’s because the company will use over-the air wireless technology to upgrade software in the vehicle.

Tesla estimates it will allow a Model S to travel well beyond the current 200 or 300 miles the vehicle can manage on a single charge.

The technology, which Tesla already uses in its Roadster cars, could be bad news for used car sales.

The wireless upgrades are designed to eventually allow any Tesla vehicle to incorporate new or improved features without the owner ever having to visit a mechanic or dealership.
