GM Trims Production As Unsold Inventory Grows

Automaker plans to eliminate one shift at Hamtramck plant in March.

A glut of unsold cars is forcing General Motors to stop production temporarily at five factories in January, including the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant. That’s the same facility where GM plans to eliminate one shift in March 2017, laying off more than 1,000 workers.
