Amid a torrent of criticism, President Joe Biden plans to speak at 1 p.m. Friday from the White House about the chaotic evacuation of Americans and allies from Afghanistan. The remarks come after days of tumult in the country since the Taliban takeover. Tens of thousands of people remain to be evacuated ahead of the United States’ Aug. 31 deadline to withdraw its troops from Afghanistan. Watch his remarks live.
