Friday, February 7
Emma Guzman at Bogart’s
Who’s playing: Emma Guzman has that kind of voice that can just take over a room and stop time. She’s not even out of high school yet, but has already recorded and released a full length album, not to mention, being chosen for the career pilot program by Tidal streaming service known as Unplugged.
Sounds like: This song by Emma Guzman is called “Last Page.”
Django Reinhardt inspired ‘Djangophonique’ Perform at Cliff Bell’s
Who’s playing: Djangophonique is a musical project born out of reverence for the Parisian Jazz Manouche style that was made popular by the legendary Sinti guitarist Django Reinhardt and his Quintette du Hot Club de France. This is a musical ensemble spearheaded by singer/songwriter Andrew Brown, who is part of the Americana string-band revivalist outfit known as the Appleseed Collective.
Omar S album release party at Marble Bar
Who’s playing: Omar S is releasing a new album titled “You Want.” It’s entrancing, it’s meditative, it’s propulsive. It’s intricately arranged and very transfixing.
Sounds like: Omar S’ latest album
Saturday, February 8
The Whiskey Charmers at Detroit Shipping Company
Who’s playing: Whiskey Charmers are an alt-country band that makes these rollicking, western ballads.
Sounds like: The Whiskey Charmers “Human”
