Rep. Dan Kildee “Reluctantly” Comes Out In Favor of Impeachment Proceedings
Kildee is now one of five Michigan members of Congress who support proceedings investigating an “Imperial President.”

It was less than three weeks ago when U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee came on Detroit Today with Stephen Henderson to express his misgivings on how to move forward with the just-released Mueller report.
But now, he tells us his decision is made: It’s time to start impeachment proceedings. Kildee joins a growing number of members of Michigan’s congressional delegation publicly calling for impeachment proceedings to investigate President Trump. Reps. Rashida Tlaib, Brenda Lawrence and Andy Levin all want Congress to start an inquiry, and Rep. Justin Amash has drawn the ire of his party by calling for impeachment as well.
Kildee was a hold-out, which drew criticism from some quarters. He joins Henderson on Detroit Today to talk about what changed that has prompted him rethink his stance.
“When the Mueller Report was first released, it wasn’t clear to me at that time that Congress would be unable to conduct our oversight duties,” says Kildee. “Since the president has decided not to cooperate, essentially saying that he’s an imperial president, that his word is final.”
“I have come to this rather reluctantly,” he continues, “because I think we have to be reluctant to use this tool, unless we feel we have no other alternative.”
