Lions Look to Puncture New York Defense in Monday Night Showcase

The Detroit Lions take a turn on one of the NFL’s brightest stages tonight when the team travels to the East Coast to play the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.

Detroit and New York enter week two of the regular season on different trajectories.

The Lions rode yet another comeback engineered by quarterback Matthew Stafford to beat Arizona last week.

New York, however, struggled with injury woes en route to a loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Last year New York defeated Detroit as Stafford played with a dislocated finger.

This time it’s the Giants that are dealing with an injury to a star, receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who may or may not be ready to hit the field against Detroit.

Without Beckham Giants quarterback Eli Manning could not get his team into the end zone last week against the Cowboys.

But New York’s “Big Blue” defense remains very tough, especially against the run.

Which may actually work out for Detroit.

The Lions have been hard-pressed to feature a rushing attack, instead relying on Stafford to puncture defenses through the air.
