Wayne County Opens New Clinic

A new health clinic in Wayne will not turn away patients.

The Wayne County Department of Health, Veterans and Community Wellness is opening a new clinic. The Wayne Health Center will serve the cities of Wayne, Westland, Romulus, and Inkster.

Doctor Mouhanad Hammami is the Director of the county’s Health Department. He says the facility will bring affordable health care to an underserved community.

“The ratio of primary care to population is one in 4,000. So every primary care physician has to see 4,000 patients. Well, we are able to do here is tip that ratio a little bit and help in providing access to services to people that need it the most,” Hammami says.

The department is partnering with Beaumont Health and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry. The facility will provide dental and behavioral health services, as well as primary, OBGYN, and Pediatric care.
