Oakland County to Host Water Quality Town Hall Feb 23

Oakland County officials are hosting a town hall meeting on water quality tonight.

Water Resources Commissioner Jim Nash is scheduled to talk to residents in Waterford about keeping the water supply safe.

Nash says he wants to reassure county residents that what is happening in Flint will not happen in Oakland County.

There’s no like back flow or anything that can happen. So we’re totally different systems. We run off the Detroit Water and Sewerage formerly that now its Great Lakes Water Authority. And they’ve been treating their water for many, many years.” Nash says.

Nash says corrosion control chemicals in the county’s pipes prevent lead from leaching into the water.

He says Oakland County has very low to no levels of lead in the public water supply.

The town hall starts at 7 p.m. at VFW Hall 1008, located at 1690 Airport Road.
