DTE Energy Beginning Work on Solar Panel Field in Romulus
DTE Energy plans to install 2,700 solar panels in Romulus.
DTE Energy is growing its renewable energy resources with a new solar array. The utility is installing almost 3,000 solar panels in Romulus. DTE spokesperson Vanessa Waters says the utility has already built about 20 similar sites in southeast Michigan in order to generate renewable power.
“We’re going to meet a state mandate requiring electric utilities to supply 10-percent of their electricity from renewable energy sources by 2015, and that includes solar energy.”
-Vanessa Waters, DTE Energy
Waters says the new solar panels in Romulus will generate enough energy to power 125 homes. She says she expects crews to complete construction on the new facility before the end of the year.
