All Bets are Off in Detroit Casino Contract Negotiations
Unionized casino workers in Detroit may go on strike over health benefits in proposed new contract.
Negotiations are set to resume this weekend between the union representing casino workers in Detroit and operators of the city’s gaming halls.
The union rejected a proposed contract offer from officials with the MGM Grand, Greektown and MotorCity casinos in Detroit.
The union’s website reports that negotiators are focusing on costs associated with health benefits.
Casino officials are examining a counter-proposal from the union.
Both sides are set to return to the bargaining table Sunday evening.
The union has reportedly authorized a strike if an agreement cannot be reached.
