Driverless Car Technology Still Miles Away From Reaching Public Roadways
Some researchers helping open a new driverless vehicle test center in Michigan say the technology still needs much work.
The University of Michigan is opening a $10 million test facility to help develop autonomous, so-called “driverless” vehicle technology.
Called M-City, the test track offers designers a real-world experience in how driverless vehicles could, and should, operate.
One of the companies working on such technology is DENSO International America.
The company’s Vice President for North American Research, Pat Bassett, tells WDET’s Quinn Klinefelter the new test facility offers the chance to push driverless technology miles ahead of where it’s at now.
